Did You Know This About Las Vegas Nevada Hotels?

Whenever I think of Las Vegas Nevada hotels I instantly picture glitz and glitter. I don’t know if you can see the world famous Las Vegas strip from space but boy, those lights sure are bright. Especially the one on top of the Luxor. It’s a huge spotlight that shines directly up into space.

And speaking of space, have you ever been on top of the Stratosphere Hotel? If you’re afraid of heights then stay away from this one. It is the tallest structure in the state of Nevada. They even have thrill rides on top of it.

And have you ever seen Fremont Street? What an amazing light show. It is a massive canopy that actually covers the entire street from curb to curb with a dazzling digital display.

I suppose it depends the individual’s perspective when we think of hotels in Las Vegas. They have been spotlighted in countless movies and television shows throughout the years including the famous story about how Bugsy Siegel built the Flamingo Hotel which in turn gave birth to modern Las Vegas. One thing is for sure, the city of Las Vegas most certainly is an oasis in the desert – literally.

When I think of Las Vegas Nevada hotels I actually think of three things. I picture the huge billion dollar properties on the Las Vegas strip. I also see the hotels that populate downtown Las Vegas including the Horseshoe, the Pioneer, the Golden Nugget, Fitzgerald’s and many more. Of course, there are the decidedly less opulent hotels and motels that are abundant, especially in and around McCarron Airport.

When gambling was legalized in Nevada in the 1930s, tourism flourished. Las Vegas itself grew because it was in close proximity to the massive construction project that we now know of as the Hoover dam. The building boom, more or less, continues today. Over the past decade Las Vegas and Clark County rate consistently as the fastest growing areas in the United States.

In the 1950s the strips saw the construction of hotel-casino icons in the form of the Sands, Riviera, Tropicana and Stardust. When I hear those names I can’t help but think of the rat pack and the shenanigans of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and their crew. By the way, did you know that Humphrey Bogart was the original leader of the rat pack? That’s right, Sinatra took orders from Bogey

Now the most famous Las Vegas Nevada hotels are the ones that will make your jaw drop. Have you ever seen how huge the MGM Grand is? They call it the city within the city it is so big. What about how opulent the Venetian, Paris, Wynn and Belagio are? It is truly amazing when you stop and think about how far and how fast the city of Las Vegas has come. You talk about evolution… these guys do it at hyper-speed as they constantly reinvent themselves.
